Full Membership
Associate Membership
Full Membership
To be eligible for Full Membership, an applicant shall satisfy the following criteria:
a) Has an investment of a minimum of LKR 100 Million
b) The number of ‘full-time equivalent’ academic staff to students ratio should at a minimum be 1:30, and 50% or more of academic staff must be employed on full-time basis
c) Has a minimum number of 300 full-time equivalent undergraduate/postgraduate students enrolled in education programmes leading to the award of a degree or equivalent qualification (SLQF Level 5 or above).
d) Has been in the provision of education programmes leading to the award of degrees or equivalent qualifications (SLQF Level 5 or above) for more than three (3) consecutive years at the time of application.
e) Has graduated at least one batch of students with qualifications corresponding to SLQF Level 5 or above.
f) Has the annual accounts audited by a Chartered Accountant
g) Has an unblemished reputation and track record
Associate Membership
a) Applicants who fail to satisfy the aforesaid conditions for Full Membership may be granted Associate Membership subject to an assessment of the applicant’s capacity to satisfy Full Membership criteria in accordance with pre-determined conditions and rules established by the Executive Committee
b) An Associate Member shall be entitled to apply for Full Membership on satisfying the criteria listed above for Full Membership.
c) An Associate Member shall not be entitled to vote at general meetings of the Association or be elected to the Executive Committee but may be appointed to any subcommittee or academic cell established by the Executive Committee.
How to Apply:
a)Application for membership shall be in writing on such prescribed form as may be made available by the Association.
b)Every application shall be proposed and seconded by two Members of the Association. The Chief Executive of the two Members proposing and seconding the application shall sign the application.
c) Every application for membership shall be duly completed and signed by the Chief Executive of the corporation applying for membership.
d)The applicant for membership shall pay a non-refundable application processing and evaluation fee as determined by the Executive Committee.
e)The Executive Committee shall appoint an evaluation committee comprising a qualified auditor, at least one Executive Committee member and other persons as the Executive Committee may determine to undertake a physical audit of the corporation applying for membership and report on the eligibility of the applicant for membership.
f)An interval of not less than three (03) months shall elapse between the date of application and election as a Member
g)Acceptance of an application shall be at the discretion of the Executive Committee who are not bound to give reasons for refusal.
